doesn't stay stuck to surface

It doesn't stay adhere to the wood finish and when we use the alcohol to prep (as suggested) it take the finish off

This stuff was really easy to install and it looks great, you can hardly tell it's on my stairs. I needed to find the best way to make my slippery wooden stairs safer and this seemed like the best choice.
